The Movies Instead of Scrolling Calculator converts your daily phone (or device) screen time into how many full movies you could watch in that same time. Enter your typical daily screen time in hours and the average movie length in minutes. You get movies per day and per year, plus how many hours and days you spend on your phone annually.
It is a simple way to see the opportunity cost of scrolling. The same hours that disappear into feeds could be hundreds of complete films, or books, or hobbies. The calculator does not tell you to change; it just makes the trade-off visible so you can decide.
Use your phone’s Screen Time or Digital Wellbeing for a realistic number. Many people underestimate by an hour or more.

The Formula
Daily screen time (minutes) = daily hours Ă— 60Movies per day = daily minutes Ă· average movie length (minutes)Movies per year = movies per day Ă— 365Hours per year on phone = daily hours Ă— 365Days per year on phone = (daily hours Ă— 365) Ă· 24We assume your daily screen time could be spent watching full movies instead. No rounding of screen time; we use your input as given. Fractional movies (e.g. 1.5 per day) are shown so you see the exact trade-off.
Typical daily screen time in hours (from your phone if possible) and average movie length in minutes. Both have sensible defaults.
We turn daily hours into minutes, divide by movie length to get movies per day, then multiply by 365 for movies per year. We also show yearly hours and days on your phone.
Results show how many movies you could watch per day and per year with that time, plus yearly hours and days spent on your phone.
