Ever wonder how many years of your life you'll spend staring at screens? 📱 The Screen Time Life Calculator reveals the shocking truth about your digital habits. Whether you're curious about your lifetime screen time, trying to reduce your usage, or just want to see the numbers, this calculator gives you instant, eye-opening results.
Most people wildly underestimate their daily screen time. That 6-7 hours daily feels manageable, but over a full 80-year life it adds up to 20-23 years on screens — about a quarter of your entire life. Gen Z at 9 hours daily is on track for 25+ years, more than 30% of their lifespan. When you see the real numbers, it becomes clear why intentional screen use matters.
Use the simple mode to enter your total daily screen time, or flip on Break down by activity to split it across social media, TV/streaming, gaming, work, and browsing. You'll see exactly how many years of your life each habit eats up, plus what you could have done instead — books read, marathons trained for, languages learned. It's completely free and no sign-up needed.

Our calculator uses proven formulas and up-to-date data to give you accurate results. Here's a transparent look at the methodology behind your calculation.
The Formula
Daily Hours = simple input, OR sum of (social + streaming + gaming + work + browsing) in advanced modeYearly Hours = Daily Hours × 365Remaining Lifetime Hours = Yearly Hours × (Life Expectancy − Current Age)Already-Burned Hours ≈ Yearly Hours × (Current Age − 12) (assumes screens started ~age 12)Lifetime Years = (Already-Burned + Remaining) ÷ (365 × 24)Percentage of Life = Lifetime Years ÷ Life Expectancy × 100We multiply your daily screen-time hours by 365 to get yearly hours, then by your remaining years of life. We also estimate how much screen time you've already burned by assuming most people start at around age 12 (rough but useful). The result shows total lifetime years, percentage of your waking life, and scenarios for what you could have done with that time instead.
Enter your total daily screen time, or flip on Advanced mode to split it across social media, TV, gaming, work, and browsing. Then add your current age and expected lifespan.
We multiply your daily hours by 365 and your remaining years of life, then convert to years, days, and percentage. We also estimate what you've already burned (since age 12) and translate the total into books, marathons, and languages you could have spent that time on instead.
Years on screens, what you've already burned, what you could have done instead, reduction scenarios, and platform-specific benchmarks (TikTok videos, Netflix episodes, Instagram sessions). 📱
